JSK and The Press Dry Cleaning: Supporting the Community Through Innovation and Giving
At The Press Dry Cleaning, we believe in more than just providing top-tier dry cleaning and laundry services—we believe in being an integral part of our community. When the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted daily life, we faced unprecedented challenges, but instead of shutting our doors, we adapted, innovated, and gave back to those who needed us most.
Pivoting During the Pandemic
As businesses shut down and people transitioned to working from home, the need for dry cleaning services saw a dramatic decline. With fewer customers coming through our doors, we faced a critical decision—how could we keep our dedicated team members employed while still serving the community?
Thanks to government aid through the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL), we were able to retain our staff and find a new way to contribute. We turned to our talented alterations department and pressers, teaching them how to cut and sew fabric to produce masks at a time when they were desperately needed.
Donating Over 10,000 Masks to Local Hospitals
Recognizing the severe shortage of protective masks, we focused our efforts on producing high-quality, reusable masks for frontline workers. Through our team's hard work and dedication, we were able to donate over 10,000 masks to local hospitals, including Children’s National Hospital. Our contributions helped protect medical professionals, hospital staff, and vulnerable patients during a time of crisis.
The Power of Community
The pandemic reinforced our belief in the power of community and adaptability. By repurposing our skills and resources, we not only kept our employees working but also made a meaningful impact. The gratitude we received from healthcare workers and local organizations reaffirmed that we were on the right path.
Even as we return to a sense of normalcy, our commitment to giving back remains unwavering. The Press Dry Cleaning continues to support local initiatives, ensuring that we are more than just a business—we are a community partner dedicated to making a difference.
We are proud of what we accomplished and are grateful for the support of our customers, employees, and local organizations. Thank you for being part of our journey and for trusting us to care for your garments with the same dedication and integrity we bring to our community service.
